Workshop Format

Workshops are usually based on attendees actively participating in the presentation of the workshop, while assisted with a PowerPoint presentation and accompanied with a hard copy handout (all materials presented) to all attendees.

Workshops and seminars are available on partial, half or full day options as well as multi-day options to fulfill minimum time requirements for state mandated professional development points and/or CEU’s. Be sure to contact PE Providers with your professional development needs. You can call, email or fill out our on-line form to have all your needs addressed and questions answered. We will work with you and your staff on the specifics, with respect to workshop content and format.

Target Audience

Bob's primary target audiences are physical education specialists, health and wellness professionals, occupational therapists, and physical therapists working in the educational setting. Secondary target audiences would include, special educational professionals, classroom teachers, administrators and special subject professionals.

Many regular education faculty have attended Bob's workshops on such topics as, The Movement Learning Connection, Lifetime Fitness Skills to Improve the Quality of Your Teaching, The Social and Emotional Development of Young Children and How The Classroom Teacher Can Impact Childhood Obesity. Bob identifies many common learning issues that can be addressed by movement mediums used in the regular classroom.

Pre-Service College and University Faculty have found Bob’s material extremely useful for their students who are preparing to enter the teaching profession. Bob presents often to Pre-Service programs on a variety of topics.

Expectations

Participants in Bob's workshops feel energized and refreshed and leave with many new ideas they can use in their classes immediately (see testimonials). Most importantly, Bob addresses how to work with large classes, address low budget issues, develop strategies on dealing with challenging students, how to institute a class management system and how to organize classes to maximize time spent in activity.

Some of the popular topics include Standards Based Curriculum Activities, Fitness Made Fun, Totally Tubular Fitness Experiences, Zany Core Strength and Stabilization Activities for Elementary and Middle School Students, Assessment in Action, Thematic Approach to Units and Lessons in Physical Education, The Crossover between Adventure Activities and Sport, Low-cost Virtual Fitness Activities, and How Movement Impacts Academic Learning (see past workshops). Bob’s work experiences and curriculum development experiences span the K-12 range and participants often comment on how well he relates to all levels of teaching.

Specific Needs

If you have a specific need for your target audience, you may contact Bob and he will design a workshop around those needs, both for physical education professionals and regular education professionals. If your school district is a Carol White PEP Grant recipient or a local/regional educational grant recipient, professional development workshops for your staff often meet the grant’s guidelines and provide your professionals with meaningful experiences related to the grant.

Many nutrition and wellness policy grants are a great way to provide professional development experiences for your faculty. If you are a Massachusetts Educational Institution, work products may also be arranged to accompany the seminar to give your faculty the minimum 10 professional development points necessary to meet the state guideline for qualifying content.
